“One-Punch Man” is a 2015 anime Japan animation comic science fiction superhero novel written and illustrated by series creator One-Punch Man author Your Name.

“One-Punch Man” was first published digitally on December 10, 2014, while the first print volume was released on October 12, 2015, becoming that year’s best-selling manga in Japan, according to Oricon. Later Hiragi found them printed and sold copies of the book outside of his underground schedule.

In June 2022, it was announced that One-Punch Man was being sold to Sony Pictures, and a live-action film was developing. The film, directed by Justin Lin of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, will be produced and have a hand in the story rewrite for the movie.

This original script is written by writers Jeff Plinker and Scott Rosenberg. They collaborated on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and its’ sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level.

Plinker and Rosenberg have many credits to their names, including the hit show “Lost” and writing scripts for various films. They both served as Executive Producers on the Netflix series “Cowboy Bebop.”

Arad Productions is confirmed to produce the film. They’ve produced various comic and video game adaptations, including “Uncharted,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Ghost in the Shell,” and the upcoming Borderlands film set to release in 2022.

One-Punch Man Synopsis

One-Punch Man is an anime television series produced by Madhouse and directed by Tomokazu Kore-eda. It premiered on April 1, 2016, on Fuji TV. The story follows Saitama, an average individual who one day decides to give up on life and become a hero by becoming the strongest in the world.

However, Saitama is incredibly weak and has never fought in his life until, one day; he meets Genos, an alien with extraordinary powers who proclaimed that Saitama was his successor.

After trouncing many supervillains, Saitama becomes known as “One Punch Man” and decides to retire from heroics to concentrate on his business.

However, when another powerful villain named Mask, intent on taking down Japan, arises, Saitama returns to fight crime once again as a part of the new superhero team, “Justice League.”

The series was renewed for a second season, aired from January 12 to March 31, 2017. On October 5, it was announced that the series had been picked up for a third season which will air in 2018.

A new animated film, One-Punch Man: The Final Chapter, began airing in Japanese theaters on March 16, 2019.
